Gionee has just pulled the wraps off their latest smartphone the Elife S5.5 with the tag of World's Slimest Smartphone the S5.5 gets its name due to the 5.5 mm thickness. Gionee launched this phone with a grand affair in Goa. This device is priced of Rs. 22,999 in India. Here is the first impression of the Gionee Elife S5.5 .
The Elife S5.5 isn't just about ultra-portability, but has premium specs as well. it sports a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, Performance should be top-notch considering the octa-core 1.7 GHz processor trend of today.
This device sports a 13 MP rear camera and a 8 MP front-facing camera. Just like other Gionee smartphones it run's on company's Amigo OS, which adds some interesting shortcuts and homescreen in addition to the standard Android screen and powered by a 2300 mAh battery.
This smartphone supports 3G network and can support six different bands , the company also working of a LTE version of this device by the end of June.
The S5.5 is looks like a art piece the pretty looks are backed up by a magnesium alloy chassis for strength and durability .The phone has a glass front and back, which in most cases work as a fingerprint magnet. But surprisingly , this device doesn't hold onto smudges all that much which is great work .
One of the highlights of the phone is the 5-inch Super AMOLED display. The display of this device delivers rich colours and very good viewing angle. The Android version is still 4.2.2 however so hopefully Gionee updates this to 4.3 at the very least , if not KitKat.
The camera of this smartphone manages some pretty good indoor and outdoor as well. i couldn't get better shots since all the phones were tethered. i noticed the the camera heats up after taking some picture which is not a good sign for S5.5 .
The company has already established itself in the Indian Smartphone market with the successful launches like the E6 and E7 and hopefully with the S5.5 .
